Amtrak Modifies Schedule, Suspends Trains in D.C., Northeast

Phil Kessel scored twice, Sidney Crosby set up more goals and the Pittsburgh Penguins chased Braden Holtby on the way to a 6-2 victory over the Washington Capitals in Game 2 Saturday night that gave them a commanding 2-0 lead in their second-round series.

Amtrak service is going to run on a modified schedule for trains to and from Washington, D.C., on Tuesday, March 14.

A modified Acela Express service will run between New York City and D.C. In addition, the Northeast Regional service between Boston and Washington will also be on a modified schedule, with some trains shortened or cancelled, including some that operate in Virginia.

Trains between Pittsburgh and Washington have been suspended in the Northeast Corridor.

Passengers with travel plans can confirm their train's status, change their plans or review refund information on Amtrak.com and smartphone apps.
