Air France to Bring Airbus Service to Dulles

Airbus service in the Washington, D.C., area is expanding.

Air France said it will offer A380 flights between Paris and Dulles International Airport starting June 6, 2011.

There will be two flights daily to Charles de Gaulle Airport.

The D.C. area will become the second U.S. destination served by Air France's superjumbo jets. Flights to New York’s JFK began last year.

The plane seats a whopping 538 passengers.

Once the Dulles flights begin, Air France will operate the A380 between Paris and five locations worldwide: New York, Johannesburg, Tokyo, Montreal and Washington.

If the jet sounds familiar, it may be because Qantas temporarily grounded six of its A380 aircraft after one of them suffered engine failure during a flight from Singapore in early November.
