‘Adoption Day' Will Finalize 29 Adoptions in D.C.

In honor of National Adoption Day on Saturday, Barbara Harrison speaks with adoptive parents David McDermott and Charles Desantis about their experience adopting brothers Andre and Lucas. The adoption day ceremony is open to the public and will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Moultrie Courthouse.

Nearly 30 children in Washington will have their adoptions finalized as part of "Adoption Day'' at Superior Court.

A total of 29 adoptions will be finalized Saturday during this year's Adoption Day ceremony. Each child and his or her family will be introduced, and a judge will then sign their adoption decree.

This is the 27th time the court has held an adoption day ceremony.

All children adopted in Washington in the past year are invited to the ceremony, along with their families.

November is National Adoption Awareness month.
