6-Year-Old Virginia Boy Dies After Tree Falls on Home

A 6-year-old boy has died after fierce winds downed a tree onto his family's home outside Richmond overnight Friday.

Anthony Hamilton was asleep on his bunk bed when the tree tore through the roof of his mobile home, police said and News4's partner WWBT reported.

Police responded about 2 a.m. to the 800 block of Cliffside Drive in Chesterfield County, about 20 miles southeast of Richmond.

The little boy was pulled out of the mobile home and rushed to a hospital with critical injuries. He died later in the day, police said Friday afternoon.

Hamilton lived with his mother, brother, two sisters and two roommates, WWBT reported.

In a photo provided by his family, he sits on Santa's lap, grinning.

Heavy winds toppled trees and tore down power lines in many parts of the state on Friday.
