3 Arrested, Charged in Virginia Woman's Death

NBC Universal, Inc.

Three people were arrested and charged in the stabbing death of a mother of seven in Bealeton, Virginia. News4’s Julie Carey spoke with the Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office, and has new details about what happened.

Three people are charged in the killing of a woman in Bealeton, Virginia, last week.

Kelly Marie Grey was found dead in her apartment Thursday after a family member returned home. Grey, 40, suffered severe trauma to her torso, the Fauquier County Sheriff's Office said.

Grey was a mother of seven. An infant and two toddlers were at home when her body was found.

Melody Dawn Glascock, 54, of Linden was arrested Saturday morning and charged with first-degree murder and obstruction of justice for concealing or destroying evidence. She later was charged with conspiracy to commit murder.

Two additional people were arrested in Warrenton and charged on Sunday with conspiracy to commit murder. James Embrey, 20, and Maria Embrey, 40, were taken into custody with the help of the Warrenton County Sheriff's Office. They are mother and son and served as lookouts, court documents said. After the killing, they allegedly went to Glascock’s home to dispose of evidence.

Glascock allegedly tried to recruit at least two other people in committing the crime. Court documents say she asked one person to kill her and another person if they had a large knife; both refused.

Tips from members of the community led to the three arrests.

Investigators said they couldn’t comment on a possible motive for the crime. Neighbors said they believed Glascock was jealous of a relationship Grey had.

Police are asking that anyone with information on this case contact the Fauquier County Sheriff's Office.
