2 Men Sought in NW DC $36,000 Designer Handbag Smash and Grab

Two men believed to have helped steal $36,000 worth of handbags from an upscale Dupont Circle consignment shop have been named by police.

It only took about 30 seconds for four men to enter the Secondi store on Connecticut Avenue on Friday afternoon, smash a display case with a hammer and run off with three Hermès bags. Two employees and the shop's mascot, a dog named Winnie, stood by in shock during the heist.

Police on Wednesday said they believe they know the identities of two men involved: Taquan Anthony Neal, 20, of Capitol Heights, and Devante Jermaine Brooks, 23, of Southeast, D.C.

Police say Neal also goes by the name Reggie.

Both men are wanted in D.C. superior court in connection with the burglary, police say.
