12-year-old Injured in Dog Attack

Two bulldogs to be euthanized, tested for rabies

Two dogs were taken by animal control after they bit a 12-year-old in Temple Hills, Maryland. Darcy Spencer reports.

A 12-year-old Temple Hills boy is recovering from injuries suffered in an attack by two dogs Saturday night.

It happened at around 7:00 p.m. on Portal Avenue in Temple Hills. Police haven’t detailed how the attack happened but say the boy suffered bites to his ear and leg.

News4’s Darcy Spencer was on the scene and shot exclusive video of the American bulldogs being removed from the owner’s home. Police say the attack happened about a block away from that home. The owner voluntarily handed over the dogs.

The dogs will now be put down and tested for rabies. Animal control officials say the dogs will be euthanized because they were given up by the owner, were involved in a biting incident and are not eligible to be put up for adoption.

The child who was bitten did not have to be transported to the hospital.
