1 Dead in Dulles Access Road Crash

An airport “super shuttle” crashed shortly after leaving Dulles International Airport Monday Morning. One passenger was killed and two others were injured. The accident happened on the Dulles Airport Access Highway, blocking the eastbound lanes at Trap Road.

One person died Monday morning in a crash along the Dulles Access Road in Vienna, Va.

A SuperShuttle van struck a jersey wall as it headed eastbound on the Access Road near Trap Road. One passenger in the van died. Two others were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver was not injured. Police charged the driver, 58-year-old Macadolf Hoffman, of Woodbridge, Va., with reckless driving.

The roadway reopened at about 10:30 a.m.

The investigation into the crash continues. The eastbound lanes of the Dulles Access Road will be closed from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday as equipment will be taken there to scan the scene, News4's Chris Gordon reported.
