One teenager died and two others are injured after a car crash in Bowie, Maryland.

An 18-year-old make passenger — identified as Kurt Wilson of Lanham — died. A 17-year-old passenger has critical injuries and remains hospitalized. The 17-year-old female driver was treated and released from a hospital.

The group was driving on Mitchellville Road about 9:40 a.m. Monday when the driver lost control, police said. The car sideswiped an SUV before striking a tree.

The four-door Ford Fusion was mangled in the crash.

"They had to cut the doors out," said Carnell Pinkston, who could see the crash from his apartment. "I saw 'em trying to cut them out. They said one of the persons was already deceased."

Police aren't sure what caused the driver to loose control.

"It still had temporary tags, so you know them young kids might have just got the car," Pinkston said. "It's really sad."
