Doctors Use Bloodless Surgery to Avoid Transfusions

About 11 million blood transfusions are performed in the U.S. every year and most of those happen during surgery. There’s no doubt these procedures have saved many lives, but now some doctors say getting a blood transfusion could be putting patients’ health at risk.
