A local effort to provide toys for needy children during the holidays is in serious need of help this season.
Donations are way down this year, according to D.C.'s Toys for Tots, and more families than ever need gifts for their children.
Police and marines have collected more than 10,000 toys so far, but they are expected to disappear fast.
Toys can be dropped off at the Boys and Girls Club branch number 14 in northeast Washington or donated online at D.C. Toys for Tots’ Web site.
