Resto-Lounges Move Into DC

Three new resto-lounges are hoping to make D.C. their home this year. Policy Lounge, Stir Lounge and Buddha Bar are among the contenders. With the revolving door of new restaurant and club openings always spinning, it’s a patron's market.

Policy Resto-Lounge: The restaurant and lounge combination will be located off the 14th and U Street Corridors. Unlike some  combos, this one will actually focus on the food. Policy’s head chef is a steal from top local eats like L' Auberge Chez Francois and Palena. But Policy will also have room to kick back. It will have a second-story lounge complete with a DJ and bar (but no dance floor). The team behind Policy is not new to the DC nightlife scene. Soulstic Productions has promoted nights at Josephine and Indebleu.

Soft opening will be in March.

Stir Lounge: Keep your eye out for this place. It will be located in Chinatown and is scheduled to open in April. Linton Events has been slated to promote their lounge scene.

Buddha Bar: The Penn Quarter/Chinatown area will soon have another watering hole. The owner of Las Vegas’ Little Buddah in the Palms Casino & Resort is opening a Buddha Bar.

The George V. Entertainment group has created restaurants, bars, music, images, hotels and spas around the world, crediting their success to their unique settings, inspired cuisine, attentive service and a tailored musical ambiance. Buddha Bar has leased 9,400 square feet in a new office building on Massachusetts Ave. NW, just three blocks from Verizon Center. Buddha Bars are known worldwide for their electric Asian décor, hypnotizing music, amazing sushi and wide selection of sakes. This project is still in the early stages so it will be a while before we see any visible signs of the venue.
