Safari Without Leaving D.C. at The Big Hunt

The Big Hunt:

An initial glance around the bar reveals safari tent decor, a row of teeth on a wall, and a plastic arm dangling from the outstrechted jaws of a giant dinosaur head. Welcome to The Big Hunt.

Deinitely not for the yuppie crowd, The Big Hunt's dress code is decidedly low-key and the attitude is no frills. The people planted in booths vary from the pierced and tattooed to dressed down young professionals looking to wash down any bitter taste of a long work week with one of the Hunt's 27 draft offerings.

The place's specialties are wings and beer, and it offers great deals on both during its Happy Hour. The 15 cent wings are especially popular. The bar works best with the weekend crowds when they open up the top and patrons can drink and people-watch uncramped from the balcony. While regulars can frequently be found hanging around the bar, service can be hit or miss for sporadic visitors, especially when busy.

Whether flying solo or in pack, The Big Hunt offers up a good time to those looking to kick back, unwind, or mingle without pretentious political talk. At The Big Hunt, anyone searching for good beer and cheap eats can be assured it is always happy hunting.
