Slavery at Jefferson's Monticello

We know that Thomas Jefferson had slaves. But what was it like to be one of those people. Someone laboring under an unjust system and owned by the man who declared, “all men are created equal.” The Smithsonian’s “Slavery at Jefferson’s Monticello: Paradox of Liberty” exhibit explores this ethical conflict while focusing on the lives of Jefferson’s slaves. Wendy Rieger reports.
