Rockville New Home for Clean Energy

Officials have decided that Rockville will be the home of a new Maryland renewable energy agency.

It will be called the Maryland Clean Energy Center.  The goal:  making Maryland a leader in renewable energy production and job creation.

The AP has more:

The Maryland Clean Energy Center and its five-member staff will be based at the Camille Kendall Academic Center at the Universities at Shady Grove.

Board President Kenneth Connolly said Tuesday that the center will foster development of green technologies statewide, including at an industrial park in Annapolis and incubators in Frederick and Baltimore.

Annapolis City Administrator Bob Agee said projects at the Annapolis site, near the intersection of Route 50 and Interstate 97, will generate electricity commercially using solar power and methane from an old landfill.
