New Fines For Littering In D.C.

Bill closes loophole in city littering law

D.C Council members want residents to think twice before throwing trash on the ground.

The council pushed a bill ahead Tuesday that will impose a $75 fine for littering on city streets and sidewalks.

Anyone caught throwing trash out of car windows would face a $100 dollar fine.

Littering is already illegal in the city.  Members of the council say the new bill will close loopholes that make it hard for police to enforce littering laws.
