Lindsay will star in the indie fantasy comedy, "The Other Side," according to Variety.

The film follows a grad student (presumably Lindsay) who is forced to spend the summer working at a scientific lab on a remote island. The student soon stumbles upon a diverse collection of characters who are hiding a secret about a tragedy that took place many years before.

Joining Lindsay in the new movie are Woody Harrelson, Tim Roth, Giovanni Ribisi, as well as rockers Dave Matthews and Alanis Morissette.

It appears Lindsay will step into a role which Brittany Murphy was previously attached to play.

Shooting is slated to being in October on an island off the coast of Massachusetts.

And despite some of her recent lackluster box office efforts, "Other Side" director David Michaels said he has no concerns over the effort Lindsay will bring to the set.

"Lindsay's very aware of people's perceptions of her," Michaels told Variety. "She's really committed to doing what she has to in order to change that."

Lindsay was last seen on the big screen in the crime drama "Chapter 27." Her other recent box office credits include "I Know Who Killed Me," "Georgia Rule" and "A Prairie Home Companion."

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, her most recent film, "Labor Pains," is headed straight to cable and will debut in July 2009, with a DVD release in August.
