High-Tech Purchases to Vanish in 2009

2009 is going to be a really bad year for electronic/tech stores. More than half of U.S. consumers plan to cut back on purchases of high-tech products, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal.

The publication's report cites data from Forrester Research that includes some interesting highlights:

  • 63% of respondents said they are less likely to buy a smart phone.
  • 62% said they are less likely to buy a portable GPS system.
  • 66% of respondents less likely to purchase a satellite radio and subscription.
  • 62% said they are less likely to buy a new video game system.
