Have a Merry Day in Georgetown

Georgetown celebrates with free holiday events all day on Sunday

'Merriment in Georgetown' is an understatement of everything happening in downtown Georgetown on Dec. 7th.

Many Georgetown groups have put together a full day of free events, deals and sights to ignite the holiday spirit. Starting at 2 p.m., make your way to Wisconsin Ave. & M St. NW to get started on your day. Go on a complimentary horse-drawn carriage ride, take a free photo with Santa and then warm up with free hot chocolate and lattes from Starbucks.

The fun doesn’t stop there-- keep the day going with holiday activities at Tudor Place and Dumbarton House, carol with strolling carolers, or decorate cookies at Hook. By 5 p.m., make your way to the main stage where emcee Chilli Amar from Mix 107.3 will host holiday performances, including carolers from Saint John’s Episcopal Church choir.

Throughout the day local businesses will be offering discounts up to 50% off and restaurants have prix-fixe prices and deals at local favorites including Mie N Yu, Clyde’s, La Chaumiere, Paolo’s, Old Glory BBQ, Café Bonaparte, Nick’s Riverside Grille, and Tony & Joe’s.

Just when you thought there couldn’t be more, there is. Join the crowd at the Annual Tree Lighting and Boat Parade of Lights at Washington Harbour at 6:15 p.m. Also, throughout the day find a Marine Corps volunteer and donate toys for their charity Toys for Tots.

Dec. 7 may be a few weeks before the holidays really begin, but you’ll be too busy to even notice. Get more information at www.merrimentingeorgetown.com.
