Now that spring has sprung and designers have their new collections in stores, you might be thinking about doing a little seasonal fashion cleaning – but according to Gwyneth Paltrow, those hoping to spruce up their look need to only look as far as their own closet.
"I am going back to my day job this spring (filming a movie) and I am confronted with a few wardrobe issues. First of all, I never know what to wear in Los Angeles," Gwyneth wrote in the latest GOOP newsletter. "Having had a good look through the spring collections, I don't think it's necessary to make any sweeping changes. They are still selling gladiators that are almost identical to the ones I got last spring and there hasn't been any major shift in silhouettes."
In fact, the actress said she plans on doing her major shopping from her own bedroom.
"I am going to stick with the classics and update a few simple pieces that are easy to wear," she continued. "In keeping with the idea (as my mom says) of shopping in your closet, I recently did a good look-through and found some things that I will now call 'vintage' as well as doing a big cathartic spring cleanout."
Gwyneth offers up five great looks for spring that readers might be able to achieve without having to shop:
Look #1: Classic Trench Coat, which she said, "never goes out of style."
Look #2: Nautical Stripe – But the actress warned readers, "just don't do it from head to toe."
Look #3: Ethnic Prints. Gwyneth said she loves to embrace cultural couture because it's "easy to wear as they have their own thing going on and don't need any accessorizing or further thought."
Look #4: Slouchy Trousers, which she said you "can't go wrong" with.
Look #5: A Jumpsuit. According to Gwyneth, the one-piece is "making a comeback in a big way" and they "work well with any shape."
As for the clothes in actress' closet that she can't use again, she plans on auctioning them online to raise money for charity. To find out more information on Gwyneth's guide to spring fashion and how to bid on her clothes, CLICK HERE!
