Glam Slam: The Friday Five! (Nov. 7, 2008)

Yay - It’s Friday! Here’s what’s on our radar right now!

1. OBAMA MANIA
…has kicked into high gear and the excitement around here (and all around the country!) is palpable. Show your patriotism and look stylish at the same time in Catherine Malandrino’s iconic American flag dress. Kelly Ripa got in the spirit and wore hers this week on “Live with Regis and Kelly.” Available at Catherine Malandrino boutiques.

2. MCQUEEN HITS THE BULLSEYE
Who could forget Sarah Jessica Parker in her Alexander McQueen creation for the world premiere of “Sex and The City?” Now, we can all afford a little McQueen in our wardrobe. Target is teaming up with the British designer and his McQ line to launch Target Designer Collaborations. The affordable collection will be available at Target stores and online March 1, 2009.

3. DESIGNING WOMEN
Beyonce transforms herself into legendary blues singer Etta James in her new film “Cadillac Records.” And now, Beyonce and her mom, Tina Knowles, have created a line of dresses for their “House of Dereon” line based on the movie. The vintage inspired collection is available at Bloomingdale’s.

4. MAKE A STATEMENT
…with a bold necklace from Hollywood Stylist and Designer Daniel Hernandez. Daniel hand makes each necklace himself using everything from industrial chain and brocade fabrics to zippers, beads and origami flowers. Daniel describes his line, which ranges in price from $150 - $200, as “jewelry for the fashionably adventurous”… no wonder stars Pink and Mel B are fans! Go to www.Mercado-store.com for more information.

5. NAILS OF STEEL
Black or dark navy polish too Goth for you? Go gunmetal grey like Gwyneth. Grey nails continue to be a big trend and you can get the look with Revlon’s “Steel-her-Heart” or Opi ‘s “Baby It’s Coal Outside,” which is a shimmery charcoal.
