First Cut May Not Be the Deepest

Money matters for Montgomery County could get even worst next year

The budget crisis in Montgomery County may be far worse than first realized.

The county's chief financial officials warned county leaders on Monday that the potential budget shortfall for Fiscal Year 2010 could double to $500 million, the Washington Post reported.

The wider budget gap is attributed to the drop in the stock market and low income tax receipts.
