HENRICO, Va. (AP) — A Virginia teacher who is accused of having sex with a teenager has been arrested.
The Richmond Times-Dispatch reports 31-year-old Ashley Leigh Lewis Weber was arrested Tuesday and charged with two counts of having consensual intercourse with a child age 15 or older and one count of using a communications device to propose sex.
Henrico police Lt. Chris Garrett says authorities learned of the alleged inappropriate relationship with the teen on June 12. Other details have not been released.
Weber is a teacher at Douglas S. Freeman High School and has been an employee with the Henrico school system since 2009. Henrico County Public Schools spokesman Andy Jenks says officials are aware of the charges, but will not comment further.
Weber’s lawyer, Craig Cooley, did not respond to an interview request Wednesday.
