Presidents Day Closings, Traffic and Transit

WASHINGTON — Here’s the latest information on traffic changes and closings for Presidents Day on Monday.

All federal and local government offices will close on Presidents Day.
All post offices will be closed, and mail will not be delivered.
Most banks will be closed.

D.C.

City offices, schools, libraries and courts are closed.
Trash and recycling pickup slides to the next day for the rest of the week.
Parking meter fees will not be enforced.
Smithsonian museums will remain open on Monday.

Maryland
Government offices, schools, libraries and courts are closed.
Trash collection will run as normal in Anne Arundel and Howard counties.
Prince George’s County trash collection will resume on Tuesday.
Trash collection slides to the next day for the rest of the week in Montgomery County.
Parking meter fees will not be enforced in Montgomery County.

Virginia
Government offices, schools, libraries and courts are closed.
Trash collection will operate as normal in Arlington, Fairfax and Stafford counties.
Metered areas will not be enforced in Arlington County.

Traffic
All HOV restrictions are lifted in Hampton Roads and Northern Virginia.
HOV restrictions are always in effect in Maryland.
Rock Creek Parkway and Canal Road will run two-way traffic patterns.

Transportation
ART — Routes 41, 42, 43, 45, 51, 55, 77 and 87 will operate on Saturday schedules. All other ART routes will not operate.

Fairfax Connector — All routes operate regular weekday service, except routes 231, 232, 335, 393, 394, 395, 422, 432, 461, 494, 495, 556, 585, 599, 624, 634, 644, 724, and 985, which will not operate at all; and Route 980, which will run every 12-15 minutes instead of every 6-8 minutes.
Fastran transportation services will not operate on Monday, Feb. 20.

Loudoun County Commuter Bus Service and Metro-Connect — There is no commuter bus service directly into Rosslyn, the Pentagon, Crystal City, or Washington, D.C., on this day. Very limited service will be provided to the Wiehle-Reston East and West Falls Church Metro stations.

VRE — No VRE trains will operate on Monday. Regular service will resume on Tuesday.

MTA — MTA will operate on a modified schedule:

  • MARC Train: Will operate on the “R “weekday schedule on all three lines.
  • Commuter Bus: No Service except Route 201, operating on a weekend/holiday schedule.

DASH — Saturday schedule. The King Street Trolley will operate from 10 a.m. to 10:15 p.m.

CUE Bus — CUE Bus will operate on a modified weekday service.

MCDOT — MCDOT will operate on a holiday schedule.

PRTC — Omniride Commuter Bus will not operate; Metro Direct and Omnilink Local bus and cross-county connector will run regularly.

Howard County RTA — Operating on a regular weekday schedule.

Calvert County: No county bus service.
