DC Police Officer Shoots Armed Man in Southeast

WASHINGTON — A man is in critical condition after a police-involved shooting Wednesday night in Southeast D.C.

Officers responded to a call of a shooting in the 4300 block of Barnaby Road Southeast at around 6:15 p.m. They entered the hallway of a building, where police say they were approached by a man with a gun.

Acting D.C. Police Chief Peter Newsham says there was a struggle, and that’s when at least one of the officers fired.

The suspect is in the hospital. No officers were injured.

The roadway was closed both ways during the investigation.
