Access Exclusive: Mariah Carey To Sing ‘Hero' For Obama

Mariah Carey thinks President-elect Barack Obama is a hero – and she’s going to tell him so in song, the singer told Access Hollywood‘s Billy Bush on Friday.

Billy caught up with Mariah at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, as she supports husband Nick Cannon and his film “The Killing Room,” but soon she’ll be winging her way to Washington, D.C., to perform “Hero” at the Neighborhood Inaugural Ball after Obama is sworn in on Tuesday.

“It’s fitting for him,” she said of “Hero,” a song she also famously performed in the wake of the attacks of September 11. “It’s appropriate.”

Mariah added that she’s “nervous” about her performance, but “glad” to be of mixed race – like Obama — and to be an American.

Beyonce will be kicking off the Tuesday evening ball with her performance of “At Last,” and such stars as Leonardo DiCaprio and Stevie Wonder will also be joining the festivities, which will air on ABC.
