HELP FOR HOMES: The A-SPAN Help-the-Homeless Gala at the Artisphere (1101 Wilson Blvd., Arlington) features a silent auction, live music from BMT and a performance by BalletNova. Food comes from Lebanese Taverna, Santa Fe Café and SushiRock. 6-9:30 p.m.: $100 ($75 tax-deductible).

CHRISTMASTIME IS HERE: Oh, that wacky Ritz-Carlton, always with the classy events. Head to the West End location (1150 22nd St. N.W.) for Christmas carols performed by local choirs, and stories by the fire. 5:30-7:30 p.m.; free.
