Emmy Award-winning meteorologist Ryan Miller joined Storm Team4 in fall 2021. He covers weather for News4 throughout the week and contributes often to the Science 4 Everyone stories showcased on-air and across NBC Washington digital platforms. Blending weather forecasting and science reporting, Ryan is a nationally recognized high school science teacher in the Arlington County Public Schools in Northern Virginia.
Ryan grew up in northeast Ohio, where he developed a passion for weather and meteorology. He never missed weather segments from legendary Cleveland meteorologist Dick Goddard.
Prior to NBC4, Ryan worked for WJLA-TV and WTOP Radio in Washington, D.C., as a weather producer and meteorologist under long-time D.C. meteorologist Doug Hill. He produced and hosted a nationally syndicated educational program from his home’s back porch called "Outside the Classroom" during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Ryan has a B.S. from Penn State University, an M.A. from Virginia Tech and an Ed.S. from The George Washington University. He lives in Northern Virginia with his family and his dogs Bear-Bear and Murphy. He loves to ski in the winter and to garden in the summer and makes a delicious paella.
