Joseph Martínez, T44 Meteorologist

Joseph Martinez is a Meteorologist for Noticiero Telemundo 44, which airs on WZDC, our sibling television station serving the Spanish-speaking community in the Washington, DC area.

Martinez joined Telemundo 44 in November 2017.

Martinez earned the distinction in February 2020 as a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist from the American Meteorological Society (AMS). The AMS awards the prestigious CBM seal to television meteorologists who meet academic requirements in the area of ​​science and effective communication skills in their presentations during television segments.

To obtain this certification, you must have a degree in meteorology, pass a rigorous written exam, and have been evaluated on your television presentations in the areas of graphics, explanations, and presentation skills.

Prior to joining Telemundo 44, Martinez worked as an anchor for El Tiempo for our sister station, Telemundo 40 Rio Grande Valley / KTLM since January 2016.

Martínez completed her meteorology internship at WIPR- Puerto Rico TV. Additionally, Martínez did climatological research at the National Weather Service in Brownsville, Texas.

Martínez earned his bachelor's degree in Mathematics from the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez, where he also took courses in meteorology. He completed his certification as a Meteorologist at Mississippi State University in August 2019.
