Pleasant Day Despite Scattered Showers

Much of next week will feel like July -- which was very nearly the warmest month for the District on record. In fact, July 2010 ties July 1993 for the hottest summer ever.

But today offers another opportunity to take advantage of the brilliant weather the District enjoyed yesterday, despite some scattered showers.

Passing showers will interrupt the pleasant weather today throughout the area, but they are unlikely to last. Chances are low for a thundershower, and today's rains won't bring severe weather.

Though the skies will be mostly cloudy today, there will be intermittent sunshine. Temperatures will remain in the high 70s and low 80s throughout the afternoon -- perfect for catching the heated Nats-Phillies matchup.

Tomorrow will mark the last day of near- or below-average temperatures for a while. By mid-week, the summer will be back in full force, with temperatures rising to the 90s. The heat index could reach 100 on Tuesday.
