Heat, Humidity Fuel Scattered Storms, Rain

Rain will continue to move through the area until about midnight and then we're in for a breezy and beautiful Friday, Storm Team4 says.

Hot, humid and breezy conditions fueled scattered thunderstorms Thursday. High temperatures reached the 90s.

Expect mainly dry conditions as a cold front moves through overnight.

Temperatures will fall into the 60s overnight.

The refreshing break from the heat and humidity will arrive just in time for the first day of summer, which officially starts at 11:54 a.m. Friday.

A stiff northwest wind on Friday will usher in cooler and less humid air. Temperatures will top out in the low 80s Friday afternoon.

You can probably switch off your air conditioner Friday night and Saturday.

With 100% sunshine, Saturday will start cool before highs rise to the mid 80s. Sunday morning will be cool and comfortable with temps in the 50s and 60s area-wide. On Sunday afternoon, we begin the transition back to summer heat and humidity. Most of the area will remain dry on Sunday but there could be a few isolated, late-day showers along I-81. Highs on Sunday will reach the mid to upper 80s.

Enjoy the temperate weather while it lasts, because 90-degree weather returns on Monday and is expected to last all through next week.

Tune into News4 and stay with Storm Team4 for updates.
