The D.C. area is past the worst of the wind on Saturday, and breezes are set to grow calmer.
Wind gusts up to 50 mph were possible Saturday morning and afternoon, one day after thunderstorms brought tornado watches and warnings to several counties.
A wind advisory is in effect inside and around the Beltway ended at 3 p.m. Sustained 20-30 mph westerly winds were expected during that period, with stronger gusts.
Officials in Loudoun County reported Hampton Road at Piggot Bottom Road was closed due to a downed power line, but didn't confirm if it was due to the wind. In Arlington County, a tree fell on a car with two people inside, officials said. No injuries were reported.
Scattered showers could roll in later on Saturday and stick around early Sunday. Winds could pick back up during the second half of the day Sunday, with the biggest threats including power outages, flying debris and falling tree limbs.
