A line of severe storms brought damaging winds, heavy rain and thunder through our area Tuesday evening, and storm chances will continue off and on through the holiday weekend, Storm Team4 says.
Strong winds brought down trees throughout the area, causing numerous road closures and power outages in Fairfax County, Virginia.
More than 15,000 Dominion Energy customers were without power in Fairfax County, as of 10:45 p.m. About 20,000 total customers don't have power in Northern Virginia.
Old Lee Highway was closed between Parklane Road and Queen Anne Drive due to a tree down in the middle of the road, police said.

Temperatures reached the low 90s earlier Tuesday and the hot weather will continue into Wednesday with a heat index close to 100, Storm Team4 says.
Storm chances will increase Wednesday afternoon and evening and you can expect a 60 percent chance of storms on the Fourth of July.
Storm Team4 says any storms that do develop in the coming days will have the potential to bring torrential downpours, lots of lightning, small hail and dangerous wind gusts. The heat and humidity with daily chances of rain is expected to stick around at least through next Monday.
