Freezing Temps, Blustery Winds Expected Saturday Night Into Sunday

  • Wind gusts could reach 40 to 55 mph, Storm Team4 says.
  • Snow possible, but with little to no accumulation.

Scattered rain and snow showers along with blustery winds will continue to impact our region Saturday evening.

Wind gusts of up to 50mph are possible and chills will be in the 20s and 30s.

A Wind Advisory is in effect until 10 p.m. Saturday night. Most of the region is under a Freeze Warning from midnight to 10 a.m. Sunday morning and residents are advised to protect any sensitive plants.

Slushy snow fell throughout the area Saturday morning, to the dismay of many residents.

One of the the National Cherry Blossom Festival's biggest events, the Southwest Waterfront Fireworks Festival, was canceled and the Nationals' game against the Marlins was postponed because of the weather.

Sunshine will return Sunday with much lighter winds. However, there will possibly be record lows in the morning with temps falling into the 20s.
