Boom Goes the Snowstorm

Sure, there was plenty of "thundersnow" and "thundersleet" in the D.C. region during our recent brush with Mother Nature. And with that odd weather event came lightning.

Some of those flashes you saw during the storm might not have been coming from the sky, but from your local exploding transformer.

Case in point: the three white-hot fireballs captured by Chris Hundycz in Alexandria, Va.

Hundycz said he recorded the following YouTube clip of the transformer explosion outside of his apartment during the storm.
