4 things to know about the weather
- Cool Sunday with afternoon/evening showers (50% chance).
- Much warmer and sunny for Veterans Day Monday
- Cool mid-week.
- A few rain showers possible on Thursday.
It's been 38 days without measurable rain and Sunday might bring that to an end.
Temperatures have been cooling down throughout the weekend and the high on Sunday will be 59 degrees. The area will see a great deal of cloud coverage rather than sunshine.
Northwest winds are bringing much, much drier air into the region leading to an elevated fire risk. Delay any outdoor burning until after we get some measurable rainfall Sunday evening and please put your cigarette in the ashtray and NOT out the window. In Maryland, a burn ban is in effect until further notice. Fires, including bonfires and use of charcoal grills, is prohibited until further notice.
Because it's so dry, rain won't hit the ground until later Sunday afternoon. Rain is likely from 4 p.m. Sunday through 9 a.m. Monday with a quarter-inch to half-inch expected.
