4 things to know about the weather:
- Wind Machine: ON
- Much Cooler Today
- Weekend Dry For Most
- Raindrops On Monday
Thursday was our warmest day of the year so far. The additional sunshine allowed Reagan National to reach 79°!
When the rain arrived several hours behind schedule, the additional heat turned showers into storms. While they weren't severe, the storms certainly over-performed expectations. That's all over now.

Our next chance for rain doesn't arrive until late Sunday evening and Monday.
Temperatures plummet with a cold front expected Saturday
Temperatures Friday afternoon will be at least 20° lower than yesterday with very gusty conditions. Northwest winds are likely to gust above 40 mph frequently in the morning before settling down late in the afternoon.
Though it will be blustery and chilly, at least the skies will be sunny with highs staying in the mid- to upper 50s.
A storm passing well to our north will send a cold front in our direction on Saturday. Skies will turn cloudy Friday night as the wind comes back around to the southwest. That combination will keep temperatures near 40° overnight.
The cold front will reach metro D.C. around 4 p.m. Saturday. It is starved for moisture so rain is not in the forecast, but the passage of the front will make for a breezy day. Southwest winds ahead of the front, and northwest behind it will be in the 20-25 mph range. Skies will be partly to mostly cloudy with highs mainly in the mid-60s.
Sunday will be less windy but cooler. Some sunshine in the morning will eventually be blocked out by thickening clouds in the afternoon. Highs will stay in the mid-50s. Cloudy skies and occasional showers are expected Monday with temperatures reaching the low to mid-60s.
The remainder of next week looks to stay dry with a bit of a cool snap coming for Wednesday and Thursday.
The cherry blossoms should begin making an appearance by next weekend.
