There's good news in the forecast.
After Wednesday, a gradual warming trend will begin that will bring temperatures back to near 50° by early next week. Wednesday will be the coldest day in this Arctic outbreak.

Many areas are starting out near 0° Wednesday morning and Reagan National will probably be one of the very few places to reach 20° Wednesday afternoon. The rest of the area will stay in the mid-to-upper 10s and there's still enough of a breeze to keep wind chills between 0° and 10° for most of the day.
That breeze will finally come to rest overnight but, with a mainly clear sky, that will allow for an equally cold start Thursday morning.
A light South wind and sunshine Thursday afternoon should get most of the D.C. metro area to near 32°. Areas with more snow on the ground will stay in the upper 20s.
Slightly warmer temps for the last week of January
Friday and Saturday will also be sunny and cold with highs reaching the low 30s.
Sunday and Monday will come with more clouds but with afternoon highs climbing into the mid-40s at least. Storm Team4 doesn't see any signs of another bitter blast anytime soon.
A week from this Friday is the final day of January so there are less than 40 days until the beginning of March! Think warm thoughts and it will be here in no time.
