The wind stayed up overnight and will continue to gust at or above 40 mph for most of the day ahead. Colder, drier air is coming along with the Northwest wind so plan for a wind-chilled afternoon with highs barely reaching 40° and wind chills remaining in the 20s.
Occasional snow squalls and snow showers are most likely along and West of the Blue Ridge with a few flurries perhaps reaching the Northwestern parts of the D.C. metro area. The wind will settle down Monday evening and temperatures will fall into the low 20s by Tuesday morning.
Tuesday will look and feel like mid-winter. More clouds than sun, highs only in the mid-30s and enough of a Northwest wind to keep wind chills in the mid-20s all afternoon.

How much will it snow this week?
The big weather story this week will be our potential for snow on Wednesday and Thursday. The forecast models have been hinting at this possibility since late last week and are still showing a chance of snow.
However, the trend over the last 24 hours has been for less, not more, snow. With the understanding that this could still change significantly, here's how it looks Monday morning.
Snow looks likely to arrive sometime before noon on Wednesday, accumulate from Wednesday afternoon until early Thursday morning and be all over by noon on Thursday. The trend towards a more southern storm means that the Southern half of the DMV is likely to get more snow than the northern half.
Here are the varying chances for snow in the D.C. metro area: 90% chance of one inch, 60% chance of 3 inches, 20% chance of 6 inches or more. This would still be enough to cause some school and travel issues, but this storm is not expected to be a crippling event.
Stay tuned for updates and bundle up. Snow or no snow, the week ahead will be very cold. Next week will be milder with highs returning to the low to mid-50s.
