4 things to know about the weather:
- Rain coming Thursday afternoon
- Strong winds Thursday night, Friday
- Mild, breezy Saturday
- Cooler again Sunday
We are entering another active stretch of weather that will feature rain, wind and some big temperature swings.
Thursday starts with another big warm-up. Most areas will get above 70° for the second day in a row thanks to a bit of morning sunshine and an increasing south wind.

Our dry time on Thursday is limited.
Rain is expected to reach the I-81 corridor between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. and the I-95 corridor between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. and Southern Maryland between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. The rain could come down hard for a brief period, and the afternoon commute will certainly be slowed, but rain totals will only be around half an inch for most of the region.
There could also be a rumble of thunder, but organized severe weather is not likely. Strong winds from the northwest will follow the rain bringing much colder and drier conditions.
On Friday morning, with temperatures in the 30s and the wind blowing at 25 mph, the wind chills will be back in the mid-20s! Friday afternoon will come with plenty of sunshine, but temperatures will hover in the mid-50s and the wind gusts will frequently be in the 40-50 mph range.
After rain, expect a cooldown into the dry weekend
The weekend still looks to stay mainly dry. Saturday will start out a bit cloudy with temperatures near 40°. Saturday afternoon will turn sunny, breezy and mild with highs reaching the mid-60s.
Sunday will start in the 30s with sunshine. Thickening clouds by early Sunday afternoon will keep highs only in the mid-50s. Any chances for rain won't arrive until after sunset.
Monday looks to be mild enough with highs back above 60°, but cloudy skies are likely to deliver several periods of light rain.
