A severe thunderstorm warning for Spotsylvania, Orange, Madison and Culpeper counties in Virginia expired at 8:15 p.m. Wednesday.
The storm had potential for quarter-size hail and winds of 60 mph. Torrential rainfall occurred with the storm and could lead to flash flooding. Never try to drive on flooded roadways.
Earlier warnings in Maryland and Virginia previously expired. At the height of those storms, several News4 viewers in Fairfax County reported seeing hail and heavy rain.
Wednesday's first warning came in for areas of Fairfax County about 3:15 p.m.
