Weather Warnings Continue as Storms Sweep Through Area

Lots of rain fell across the greater D.C. region Thursday, with more on the way.

Any storms could bring some gusty winds, which could ultimately help bring down power lines due to the already-saturated ground.

Heavy rain is possible through the evening -- watch out for more flooding around the region. Use caution if you approach a water-covered road. Never drive through standing water.

Stream gauges indicate flooding is happening at Broad Run near Manassas Airport, and other streams in the area may also be experiencing flooding, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). Bull Run is still rising near Centreville and Clifton, Virginia.

Numerous reports of flooded roads and streams had been reported by 2 p.m. in St. Mary's County, the NWS said. As more rain moves into the area, ongoing flooding could continue.

The heavy rain should leave the area late Thursday evening, with only scattered showers overnight and before noon Friday.
