National Park Service Fixing Hazardous Memorial Bridge Potholes

National Park Service workers began fixing massive potholes on the Memorial Bridge Tuesday.

News4 reported Monday that potholes developed on the outbound lanes of the bridge, exposing rebar in places and sending some drivers swerving into inbound lanes to avoid them.

Despite the government shutdown cutting back some federal roadwork, Park Service crews worked on the bridge Tuesday. They actually had to restock their supply of ready-made asphalt.

Some craters remain, and crews will return to work on them Wednesday.

The Park Service said anyone who sees a section of road that needs to be fixed should report it.
