As Metro looks for ways to generate revenue, the transit agency has talked about potentially selling its downtown headquarters. Now Metro is looking to hire a real estate firm to provide expertise.
A request for proposals, or RFP, went out last week from Metro asking for strategic real estate planning services for 600 Fifth St. NW.
Sources say WMATA General Manager Paul Wiedefeld is not thrilled about the aging Jackson Graham Building in D.C.'s Chinatown neighborhood. Everything from the lack of modern fire suppression systems to leaking plumbing have been problems at the building.
The RFP says that real estate advisory and brokerage services will be provided in a no-cost/commission-based contract. Payment would only be provided for commissions that are earned.
The deadline for proposals is Friday, June 16.
