With the summer construction season in full swing, drivers on the Beltway and I-95 in Northern Virginia can expect some heavy delays overnight this week.
Beginning Monday night, June 11, and running all week, crews will shut down three of four lanes on the Beltway's Outer Loop, from Georgetown Pike to the Oak Street overpass.
After midnight, motorists could face full closures for up to 30 minutes. Lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. each morning.
The closures are for paving and sign installation for the I-495 Express Lanes project, which is expected to conclude this year.
Meanwhile, survey work is beginning on another toll lane project, the I-95 Express lanes project. As a result, the existing HOV lanes there will be closed overnights this week.
