Multiple Injuries, Major Delays After Chesapeake Bay Bridge Crash

It's unclear how many people were hurt

Several injuries were reported after a crash on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Saturday that closed the westbound lanes, causing lengthy delays and backups.

Lanes reopened and traffic began slowly moving around 9:40 a.m.

Maryland State Police and Anne Arundel Fire were dispatched about 8:30 a.m. for reports of a crash. Police say multiple vehicles had collided on the bridge and there were injuries.

All lanes on the westbound side off the bridge were closed for more than an hour while emergency medical services had cleared the scene. Crews were able to move the vehicles.

There were delays on the eastbound side due to rubbernecking and a large police response.

Traffic cameras show that some travlers got out of their cars amid stand-still traffic.
