D.C.'s JewelGirls: Beads, Bucks and Big Dreams

Betsy Johnson sales, cupcakes and fundraising, oh my!

Listen, we love helping people. Especially when it somehow involves shopping for ourselves, too! Sorry, did that sound shallow? Yeah, it did. Sorry.

OK, so here's the deal: Betsey Johnson (3029 M St. N.W.) is hosting the Stylish Summer Soiree tomorrow (July 15) from 5-8 p.m. Miss Teen D.C. 2008 Jasmine Alexis and the FAIR Fund -- a nonprofit working to protect human rights, particularly for young women -- will team up for an evening of fashion and fundraising for FAIR Fund's JewelGirls program in D.C., an art therapy program for adolescent girls who are survivors of human trafficking, sexual violence and street life.

Shop for one-of-a-kind JewelGirls jewelry, made by the young women themselves, as well as specially marked-down Betsey Johnson styles. And did we mention there will be cupcakes and punch? Can't forget that little (OK, significant) detail. We do love us some icing, after all!

While you're at the Georgetown shop, check out the secret garden behind the store that hosts a special happy hour every Wednesday evening. A secret garden AND creative teens? Yep, you're not gonna find THAT at Pentagon City.

The event is free -- just be sure to RSVP to rsvp@fairfund.org.
