Look Good this Ski Season

Where to shop for ski and snowboard supplies this winter

Winter is fast approaching and with the dropping temperatures comes ski and snowboard season.

To make sure you stay warm and safe while out on the slopes, get the latest gear and equipment. This snow season, consider going green and buy jackets and pants made from recycled materials. Some stores have recycled products and Patagonia has a Common Threads Garment Recycling Program for people to donate old jackets, which then help to make new clothing. Other companies are being environmentally-friendly, using wool products from sheep living in good conditions.

Local ski and snowboard resorts are expected to open by Dec. 15, which leaves just enough time to get the newest technology in equipment and clothing. This season expect lighter and warmer jackets. Some clothing companies are using phase changing materials which have paraffin wax that absorbs energy from your run down the mountain to maintain a comfortable temperature while you are sitting on the lift back up. Look for shorter and wider skis for even better performance and boots are getting more and more comfortable, giving skiers a more natural stance.

Check out these local stores to find everything from ski gloves to snowboard helmets.
