Watergate to Get a Makeover

Renovations planned for famous D.C. building

D.C.'s famous Watergate building is getting a makeover.

The plans for the building at 2600 Virginia Ave. NW will update the building's interior and make some cosmetic changes to the front enterance.

According to the Washington Business Journal, the renovations will start later this month and should be complete by September.

The renovations come as Washington marks the 40th anniversary of the historic break in at the property that eventually brought down President Richard Nixon.

The current owners of the building hope the changes will help attract new tenants.

The 11-story, 198,000-square-foot building is about half-vacant right now.
