St. Regis Goes to Auction

One of Washington's most prestigious addresses has fallen victim to the foreclosures crisis.

The St. Regis Hotel, two blocks from the White House at 16th and K streets, will be sold at auction Friday, The Washington Post reported.

Every American president has visited the property since Calvin Coolidge cut the ribbon at the grand opening in 1926, hotel officials said.

The St. Regis was purchased for $170 million in 2007 by a private equity firm based in Ireland.
